I just finished reading Steve Wozniak’s – iWoz. It was very good. If you are expecting to read iWoz looking for dirt on Apple or Steve Jobs, you’re barking up the wrong tree.
iWoz is a story about a nice guy whose passion has always been building things. The whole book drips with his enthusiasm for technology. The book focuses on Woz’s early forays into technology like building a neighborhood intercom and his first computer, the predecessor to the Apple I, the Cream Soda Computer.
What’s so appealing about Woz is that his goal has always been to be an engineer, not a titan of tech or an executive. He even relates thestory of almost passing on working at Apple because he loved his job atHP building calculators so much and had no desire to run things.
He’s a regular guy, a tinkerer, an inventor and a jokester. One of his proudest ventures was running a "Dial a joke" line even answering the phone and pretending to be a crazy old Polish guy complete with Slavic accent.
Despite his aversion to the limelight Steve Wozniak is an icon. Building the first Apple computers was world changing. If you have ever built your own computer, own a ham radio, orenjoy technology then this books is a must read.
