There are probably 20 or 30 bookmarking sites that i am member of or use on a regular basis, though I primarily committed to del.icio.us . Chris Poteet, at the Web Work Daily has a good article on how to,”Become a del.icio.us power user “.
When I mention how useful del.icio.us is many people don’t comprehend why I would want to use this service when their browser has a perfectly good bookmarking utility. They can even keep them synced across browsers via Google Browser Sync . At that point I usually say, “What do you do when you have 1000 bookmarks, how can you search them? Can you organize them other than in folders?” You get my point, if you bookmark a lot, you can see a huge benefit from it.
Also it’s very interesting to search del.icio.us when you are looking for information because you get the benefit from the tags of other and also look at the people who saved a URL. If you click on the saved by X number link you can read all public notes on a link which can be much more insightful then a typical search engine ranking. Of course sometimes the notes only make sense to the author but often it’s incredibly useful.
There are lots of good tips in Chris post but the juicy link from Chris’ post is Absolutely Del.icio.us Tools Collection which is a blog post that’s been updated consistently since 2005. Which I promptly bookmarked…in del.icio.us.
