From Slashdot to Digg to Mixx

by Mark on November 26, 2007

Back in 2000 I used to read Slashdot every morning for my daily dose of tech and open source news. Over time it became a more eclectic mix of general tech which I still enjoy. Then at a TriLug meeting I wasMixx introduced to Digg, which incorporated a voting system to bring news to the top of the heap. This system somewhat trumped the meta-moderating style of Slashdot but I still read both. I was attracted to Digg mainly because I really used to enjoy watching Digg co-founder Kevin Rose, on The Screen Savers and figured he probably had a good chance of creating a useful tech news portal. Recently I started watching Mixx which might be the next new tech portal according to an article by Michael Arrington at TechCrunch.

However, today’s TechCrunch article from Duncan still lists Digg as the outright leader in the social media space. For now it’s one more RSS Feed to add to my reader…
