Yesterday Problogger published the final results of the community consulting project and evaluation of Socialized Software. There was lots of feedback
that I largely agree with. If you notice I started incorporating the comments from their evaluation today. I have upgraded to a new theme that I will tweak over the next couple weeks (Click on the image on the right to see the old site).
Ideally, I would take a weekend to do this but my responsibilties at Zenoss are affording me very little free time so it’s going to be piecemeal changes.
Here’s the plan for this week:
- Reduce the widget clutter – I am going to migrate a number of my widgets onto the About page and remove them from the front page.
- Adding some Color - I got a lot of comments on the minimalist design, the new design will use the same blue, black, grey, and white that the old one did but more prominent use of blue and less grey. I also hope to figure out how to add a more interesting graphical header.
- Update the Subscription Options – Apparently my break out of marketing versus site wide RSS feed was not intuitive to many of the readers so I will clarify and possibly add an email subscription options. I find that I have some of my readers are interested in social media while others are interested in technology and social media.
- Internet Explorer Support – I love Firefox but some of the visitors to this site use versions of Internet Explorer so I need to test the site in that browser. I did test the new design in IE 7 running under Parallels but will check out BrowserShots at Anthony’s suggestion.
Stay tuned for changes and let me know what you think.
