Apparently the role of community managers is one of the coolest jobs around. Jono Bacon’s one for Ubuntu, and Jeff Waugh did an awesome job before that. Jay Pipes does a nice job for MySQL. Dawn Foster is the community manager that "powers" community managers at Jive Software who makes wicked-cool collaborative software.
Iím also going to be focusing my attention on getting the word out about openSUSE to more potential users, and trying to bring in more new users to openSUSE Linux. And by ďnew users,Ē I donít mean people switching from another Linux distro ó if someone is using another distro and is happy with Linux, thatís great. I want to reach the masses of Windows users who are looking for a better computing platform, and find ways to address their needs with Linux.
Joe’s a real good guy. I met him this fall at the Ohio LinuxFest and I admired his work as the Editor-in-Chief of Linux Magazine. I think he will be a great asset to the OpenSUSE community. Congrats, Joe.
Update: Sorry Joe about the initial misspelling of your name. It’s been added to my spell checker.
