Linux, Open Source and Social Media
Tanner gave us a little history lesson this week on open source (see the comments from the Is the Open Source Brand in the Right Hands?). It made me think about the documentary on open source Revolution OS. The documentary features early open source leaders talking about open source and its origins like Eric S. Raymond, Richard Stallman, Larry Augustin, Michael Tiemman, and Bruce Perens–who inspired the aforementioned post. So here’s a free software history lesson.

Oh man, the entire thing’s on Google Video now?!? TriLUG had a showing of it 5 years ago (June 12, 2003, see http://www.trilug.org/past-meetings ) and it was fairly well received, even if we did cut off the credits where Stallman was singing the free software song. In order to show it at TriLUG we had to buy one of the DVDs and since I paid for it personally I still have it. If you’re interested in seeing it on a bigger screen sometime I’d be happy to loan it out sometime. Just let me know!
I have it on DVD too…when it wasn’t free
