This weekend I am in Atlanta at the Atlanta Linuxfest I was also able to sneak down to The Varsity for a hot dog (see the Varsity menu on the left, very heart healthy). I was honored that I was invited to speak and even more surprised to see over 80 people cramming into a small room to hear about network monitoring with Zenoss Core. I also got to sit in on a session presented by the eApps technical team on, “How To Bring Open Source Network Management Tools into Mission Critical Roles in Your Organization” I was jazzed to hear that they were using Zenoss Core to monitor over 5000 Virtuozzo containers.

Beyond that I am as always to hang out with my buddy John M. Willis (Canonical’s new cloud guru) for a couple of cocktails. It was great to see him and get a crash course in cloud management. Unfortunately his talk was scheduled at the same time as mine but we did get time to chat. What really impressed me beyond his cloud expertise (which is voluminous) was his brand new kicks, red plaid DC skate shoes. I think he’s gunning for whurley’s title as the “king of the systems management cyberpunks”.
