This video is a funny twist on day laborers, the guys who gather outside Home Depot or underpasses in many cities looking for a days work.

The guys hanging off the side of the Golden Gate Bridge and he decides to call the news station for a little added publicity (even though the news helicopters are circling him and batting his sign around like crazy). One of my favorite blogs is Hugh MacLeod’s GapingVoid. Hugh’s schitck is to draw insightful cartoons on the back of business cards (and providing marketing insight). He’s currently in Alpine,TX, Hugh lives in London which is a world away from west Texas. It reminded me of my college rugby teammate, "Billy from England" (not to be confused with Billy from the Army). Billy used to tell us he only drank beer in the states because the tea was awful. So here’s my Hugh MacLeod inspired business card cartoon.

The highlight of BarCamp Austin III wasn’t the technical talks, or meeting cool people. The best part was during the demo of the battle bot.

In the back parking lot one of the BarCamp participants was demonstrating his battle robot when it lost control, took a chunk out of the concrete curbing, and then went wild and attacked the the air conditioner in the house next to GSD&M Idea City.

What really made it for me was that no one realized that it was out of control until the air conditioner went flying. I am sure there will be a YouTube video posted somewhere but for now here’s some pictures.

Here’s the chunk of curbing annihilated by the robot blades.

whurley helps push the battle bot back to the car before the cops come.   

Ten seconds later Flickr gets flooded with footage of the aftermath.  

 The residents of the house were surprisingly unfazed after being attacked by a killer robot.

It’s not a party until something gets broken usually that means a plate or a glass but I guess a half ton air conditioning unit counts too.
