Twitter in Plain English

Tags: , ,

I like Twitter though when I first saw Twitter I thought it was sort of silly. I have to explain Twitter to some folks in my company this week and was looking for a good explanation. This video’s a pretty good description. Does anyone else have any good Twitter resources?

Microblogging Feed – Pulse of Open Source

Tags: , , , , ,

The Pulse of Open Source is the stream of collective consciousness of the open source community on Twitter. The Pulse of Open Source was inspired by and based upon the code for Pulse of PDX. The site is managed / operated by Raven Zachary and developed / hosted by Michael Richardson (thank you, Michael!).

The initial idea for this site was based on a conversation at Open Source Think Tank 2008 between five Twitter users – Raven Zachary, Ross Turk, myself, Reuven Cohen, and Aaron Fulkerson.

You can follow your favorite OSS people via Twitter or you can subscribe to the feed in your RSS reader.

Who are we following? Take a look at the participants.

Twitter: MicroBlogging Wonder Tool or Irritating Distraction

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

I was reading my Twitter tweets recently when I saw this message:

Twitter Tweets

It made me laugh not only because I know the person who twittered this but because i know his boss.

And so began an all day trend.

Shortly thereafter I saw this complaint from Tim Bray to Scoble:

Twitter from Tim Bray to Scoble

Then Cote posted about Twitter etiquette and link whoring.

Hey, I link-whore in (on?) Twitter all the time. That’s part of the point. But, it’s at least good to put a title in your link whores and try to space it out rather than carpet bombing it. I put up with the carpet bombing from news update feeds like Google News and ZDNet – but I’d rather they spaced them out.

And then the Real Paul Jones added:

Twitter from Paul Jones

Is Twitter starting to equally irritate and fascinate us? Will Twitter continue to gain popularity or fail due to users total noun/verb confusion.

"I twittered twice about the twinkling twins as I read tweets in Twitterrific."
